I’m Marc Carusiello. The only one.
This is a photo of myself where I feel most present: a buffet. I timed it so I could start when breakfast was being served, and then could continue to eat when they put out lunch. The world was my oyster, mostly because it was a seafood buffet.
I’m a writer based out of Los Angeles, originally from Orlando, Florida. Wait, are people actually from Orlando? That’s weird! Trust me, I know. But is it weirder than being from anywhere else, really? The answer is yes. After majoring in the history of themed parking lots in college, I narrowly escaped becoming a full time Florida Man by moving to New York City to work at the Late Show with David Letterman. Since then, I’ve been able to work and write in the entertainment and media space for twelve years.
Throughout my last two years working in advertising I’ve written produced campaigns for Jimmy John’s and Yoplait, social for Buffalo Wild Wings, as well as internally celebrated campaigns for Visa, Arby’s, and General Mills.
Before I found my way to advertising, I was a TV writer. I wrote episodes of the Night Court sequel series, American Dad!, a 3o Rock webisode, and contributed jokes to the shows Mulligan and Man with a Plan. I got to direct Mark Hamill. I got to witness Dana Carvey laugh at a joke I wrote for his character. I got to work in SNL’s Studio 8H. I also have plenty of non-glamourous stories, like buying Diet Tonic Water for Elaine Stritch. Diet water? Yeah.
Some non-career highlights and fun facts:
— My former roommates and I (spoiler alert) won an episode of “America Says” on the Game Show Network.
— I got to see Paul McCartney perform at the Ed Sullivan Theater (in 2009, I’m not that old).
— As a child, I was in an America’s Most Wanted re-enactment. I played a fugitive’s son.
— I re-met my middle school sweetheart 15 years later and we got married. I’m probably in trouble for not putting that one first.
